Sitwise is coming soon to the Mac App Store.

A sitting reminder for Mac that counts the time you were actually sitting

A generic timer knows that an hour passed. Sitwise knows whether you were in the chair. Stand, step away, or pause and the sit clock pauses too.

Why elapsed time is not chair time

A kitchen timer, calendar block, or stretch app can fire while you are already at the kettle. Sitwise watches presence. Only sitting time accumulates. A call taken on your feet is not another hour in the chair.

How the sit clock works

While you are sitting, the clock runs. The popover shows the current bout and today’s total: time sat, longest unbroken stretch, and stands taken. Those numbers stay on this Mac.

Standing and away states

Standing is leaving the chair — not sitting taller. Away is no head and no torso. Neither is scored as a slouch. After the away delay you set, monitoring pauses and the camera stops. A seated stretch or raised hands is not a stand.

Set interval and break duration

Settings → Movement: sit for 30 to 90 minutes (60 by default), then stand and move for 2 to 10 minutes (5 by default). Snooze is 15 minutes. A short stand still counts as today’s stand even if it is shorter than the break target.

Posture and time together

The score and the clock are separate. You can match your saved sit and still be asked to shift after about 20 minutes, or to get up after a long sit. 100 is not a pose to freeze in. See how Sitwise works.

Privacy

The clock is numeric. No frames are stored. Processing stays on your Mac. Read privacy by design.

Does it know when I stand or step away?

Yes. Standing and away are different from slouching. The sitting clock pauses when you leave the chair, and a movement break counts after the duration you set.

Does it work with a standing desk?

Yes. Sitwise recognises a short stand as movement. If you remain standing with the camera still at sitting height, it may ask you to raise the camera and recalibrate.

Will it nag me?

You choose the delay, cooldown, sitting interval, break duration, and sleep hours. Sitwise stays quiet when you are standing, away, paused, or calibrating. You can snooze or pause whenever you need to.

When does Sitwise launch?
