Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Sitwise handles information. Sitwise is developed and operated by EthicsLab Limited (“EthicsLab”, “we”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16870606.
Sitwise works without an account, advertising, analytics, or a developer-operated server. We do not collect, sell, or use your app data for tracking.
Information stored on your device
Sitwise can store the following in the app’s local preferences on your Mac:
- The camera you last selected.
- Your calibrated sit (a numeric posture baseline, not a photograph).
- Alert delay, cooldown, away timeout, and other settings you choose.
- The position and size of the optional pinned preview window.
This information stays in local storage on the Mac. Sitwise does not write camera frames to disk. It does not create a photo library, iCloud document, or Health record.
Camera
Camera access is used to estimate sitting posture with Apple Vision, on this Mac. Frames are processed in memory and discarded after each score. EthicsLab does not receive the camera image, a face print, or a pose skeleton.
You can revoke camera access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Without the camera, Sitwise cannot score a sit.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Sitwise can remind you after a slouch that has lasted past your delay. It does not alert on Away, Standing, Pause, or while you are calibrating. Notification delivery is handled by macOS under Apple’s terms. EthicsLab does not receive notification contents.
Apple services
Apple system services process camera permission, notifications, and local preferences under Apple’s terms and privacy policies. EthicsLab does not receive this information.
Data collection and tracking
Sitwise contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, third-party tracking technology, or developer-operated backend. It does not create an account or upload scores, frames, or settings to EthicsLab. The app does not open a network connection for product features.
Retention and deletion
Local settings and the saved sit remain until you recalibrate, reset them in Sitwise, or remove the app. Removing Sitwise from the Mac removes its local data.
Children
Sitwise is a general wellness app and is not specifically directed at children. Because the app has no account or developer-operated data service, EthicsLab does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
Support communications
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. Support correspondence is handled as described in the EthicsLab website privacy policy. Please do not send camera captures or screenshots of yourself unless it is necessary for us to help you.
This website
sitwise.fit is a marketing site, separate from the Sitwise app. If you join the waitlist, your email address is sent to EthicsLab Limited so we can tell you when Sitwise is on the Mac App Store. We do not use waitlist addresses for advertising. Write to us at any time to be removed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Sitwise changes or when legal requirements change. We will update the effective date above. We will revise this policy before adding a developer-operated server, advertising, analytics, accounts, or materially different data use.
