A private posture app starts with a specific answer
Sitwise uses a camera, so “private” must mean more than a reassuring word. Here is what happens to a frame, what remains on your Mac, and what EthicsLab does not receive.
What happens to a camera frame
- Your selected camera provides a frame to Sitwise in memory.
- Apple Vision estimates pose on your Mac.
- Sitwise compares that estimate with your saved numeric baseline.
- The frame is discarded after the score.
What stays on your Mac
Sitwise can keep the camera you selected, your numeric posture baseline, the settings you choose, the pinned-preview position, and up to 30 days of numeric sitting totals. These are not photographs, videos, face prints, or pose skeletons.
What EthicsLab does not receive
EthicsLab does not receive camera images, a face print, a pose skeleton, posture scores, settings, or the app’s sitting history. Sitwise has no account, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or developer-operated backend for product features.
When the camera turns off
Sitwise stops scoring while paused. After you have been away for the time you set, monitoring pauses and the camera stops. Optional return checks can look later to see whether you are back; they follow the same in-memory, discard-after-scoring process. Sleep hours and auto wake-up remain under your control.
What happens when you contact us
If you join the launch list or email support, EthicsLab receives the address and information you choose to send. That communication is separate from the Sitwise app. Do not send camera captures of yourself unless they are necessary for support.
