A privacy checklist for webcam posture apps
Private has to mean a sequence, not a mood.
A webcam posture app asks for a camera all day. That is a reasonable objection. Before you install one, ask for specific answers.
- Where does a frame go? On this device, or to a server?
- Is the frame written to disk, or discarded after the score?
- Does the company receive a face print, pose skeleton, or video?
- Is there an account, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK in the app?
- What stays locally, for how long, and how do you delete it?
- When does the camera turn off — pause, away, sleep hours?
